Tom Begich Raises More from Alaska Donors Than Any Other Candidate for Governor

More than $1.2 million raised, with over 94% coming from Alaskans and more than 2,900 contributions statewide.

ANCHORAGE — The Tom Begich for Governor campaign today announced that it has raised more than $1.2 million, with more than 94% coming from Alaskans.

According to the latest Alaska Public Offices Commission reports, and excluding candidate self-funding, Begich has raised more from Alaska donors than any other candidate for governor.

“This campaign is proving that Julia Hnilicka and I don’t have to rely on personal wealth, big corporations, or Lower 48 interests to build momentum,” said Tom Begich.

“We’re proud that our support comes from real Alaska voters who believe our state can do better. They know we don’t have to accept decline as our future. Julia and I have detailed plans to lower the cost of energy, housing, and healthcare, strengthen and fully fund our schools, and make sure Alaska finally gets its fair share from our resources.

This campaign is funded by Alaskans, and they are who I’ll fight for and answer to as governor.”

The campaign has also received more than 2,900 contributions, showing strong support from Alaskans who want practical solutions to the challenges facing the state.

“For too long, powerful interests have had the loudest voice in Juneau,” Begich said.

“This campaign is different. It’s powered by Alaskans who want a governor who puts families first, makes our resources work for Alaskans, and delivers real results instead of more politics. That’s exactly what Julia and I will do.”

With the August primary approaching, the Begich campaign continues to build statewide support around plans to lower everyday costs, strengthen public education, expand access to affordable healthcare and housing, create better-paying jobs, and secure a fair return from Alaska’s natural resources.
