Alaska’s schools are stuck in yearly chaos. Districts cannot plan, teachers get pink slips, and families feel the instability.

End school funding chaos

As Governor, I will:

• Increase school funding to meet real costs

• Pass the education budget early

• Support forward funding

• Fully fund the Reads Act

• Expand early education

• Support Alaska’s cultures and first languages

Schools work better when districts can plan ahead instead of lurching from crisis to crisis. Stability helps schools hire teachers earlier, support students better, and focus on learning instead of uncertainty.

Keep good teachers in Alaska

As Governor, I will:

• Restore stronger retirement options

• Support a defined benefit option

• Offer access to Social Security

• End the layoff and rehire cycle

Alaska is the only state in the country without these retirement options for teachers. Bringing back stability and long-term security will help keep experienced educators in Alaska classrooms.

Strengthen career and technical education

As Governor, I will:

• Create clear paths from high school into apprenticeships

• Expand career and technical education in highschool

• Connect students to Alaska jobs in construction, energy, healthcare, and transportation

• Partner with unions, employers, tribal organizations, and training programs

• Help students graduate with skills, credentials, and a real plan

Alaska students should be able to see a future here. Stronger vocational training will help young people get good jobs, help employers find Alaska workers, and keep more opportunity in-state.
