New Poll Shows Tom Begich Leads Governor Primary and General Election Field
ANCHORAGE — A new statewide poll conducted by Lake Research Partners, a national public opinion research firm, shows Tom Begich leading the 2026 Alaska Governor’s race in both the primary and general election.
On an initial primary ballot with no candidate information provided, Begich leads the field with 22% support — well ahead of the next Democrat at 9% and the closest Republican at 14%.
In a hypothetical four-way general election ballot, Tom Begich leads with 38% of the vote—more than double his nearest opponent. A ranked-choice voting simulation shows Begich going on to win a majority of the assigned vote.
The poll also finds that Tom Begich is the only candidate with a positive net favorability rating (+10) and the best-known candidate in the field. “These results confirm what we’re hearing across Alaska,” said Begich “Voters are looking for change. Voters are looking for leadership focused on building a better education system, a state where our families thrive, and where our future is one of possibility and promise.”
“I’m humbled by the faith in my leadership and the momentum in this campaign that this poll underscores,” added Begich. “With over a fifth of the vote in this survey, it is clear Alaskans are coming together to propel this campaign to success in the general election.”
The survey was conducted February 5–11, 2026, among 600 likely Alaska general election voters, including 405 likely primary voters. The margin of error is ±4.0%.
The poll was commissioned and paid for by the Tom Begich for Alaska campaign and conducted by Lake Research Partners.
