Lower Energy Prices
Tom's PlaN:
Lower Energy Prices
Energy costs in Alaska are among the highest in the country, especially for heating. Families should not be paying some of the highest bills in America while living in an energy-rich state.
Cut bills now and over time
As Governor, I will:
Provide relief when energy prices spike
Create a state Department of Energy
Bring Alaska’s scattered energy work under one coordinated plan
Expand loans and grants for efficiency upgrades
Help homes, schools, small businesses, and nonprofits install cheaper local energy systems
Alaska needs both immediate relief and a long-term energy strategy. Better coordination, local energy systems, and lower energy waste can help reduce costs over time instead of repeating the same crisis every winter.
Strengthen the Railbelt energy grid
As Governor, I will:
Modernize and strengthen the Railbelt energy grid
Improve coordination across Alaska’s energy systems
Support reliable and affordable local power generation
Prioritize in-state access to natural gas
A stronger and more reliable Railbelt grid can reduce outages, improve long-term energy stability, and help keep costs down across much of Alaska.
